Tour Package Itinerary (14 Days/13 Nights) *

Colombo Airport - Negombo - Sigiriya - Trincomalee - Kalkudha - Arugam Bay - Negombo - Colombo Airport

This tour package, covering the whole of Sri Lanka's East Coast, is ideal for more individual travellers or young families. The main focus is on selected beaches, must-see cultural attractions and mainly family-operated small hotels/guesthouses. This gives you a more authentic insight into the Sri Lankan culture and hospitality than the more professional star-class hotels.

Not only is the East Coast one of Asia’s top snorkel destinations, but it also has so many unique natural and historical sites to offer, that there is something to see/do for everybody.
This tour package is available all year round, however we recommend May - October as the best time to tour the East Coast of Sri Lanka.

The Sri Lanka Tour Package can be easily combined with another Sri Lanka Tour or a Sri Lanka Holiday Package.
If you have any questions and/or need to customization, please contact us or use the "Notes" field in the form below.

SRI LANKA TOUR PACKAGE DETAILS  (14 days / 13 nights)

Day 1 : After we meet you at the airport, you'll be transferred to your beach hotel in Negombo - only 15 minutes from Sri Lanka's main International Airport. Depending on your arrival time, we can help you to explore Negombo, especially the colonial old town, the fishing harbour and attached market.
To get acclimatized, just relax in the shade at the beach or hotel pool and start your Sri Lankan adventure with your first Rice & Curry meal.
Overnight at the C Hotel in Negombo

Day 2 : The first stop on our way to Sigiriya is the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala, where you have the opportunity to see the feeding of an elephant herd.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site Dambulla Rock is home to a rock temple (formerly hermits caves). There are over 2,000 years old frescoes and a huge reclining Buddhastatue caved directly out of the rock.
Overnight at the Wewa Addara Hotel in Sigiriya.

Day 3 : Early morning is the best time to climb up to the 'Lion's Rock', the rock fortress Sigiriya. Inside the former royal citadel you can see the famous frescoes of 'heavenly maidens'. The top of the the rock fortress covers an area of nearly one hectare and was the site of the old palace. The Sigiriya 5th century Water Gardens were restored by the UNESCO Central Cultural Fund.
Passing the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, we will be heading for Trincomalee, the cultural and economical capital of Sri Lanka's East Coast. The ancient town of Trincomalee is the third-largest city in Sri Lanka and best known for its harbour, one of the world’s largest deep-water anchorages. The former Dutch Fort Frederick is on the way to Swami Rock – a breathtaking cliff that is topped by the Koneswaram Hindu Temple, one of the holiest Shiva shrines in Sri Lanka.
Following the coast for 8 km, we finally arrive at Nilaveli, your home for the next 5 nights. Nilaveli is a laid-back beach resort with miles of white, unspoiled beach scenery.
Overnight at the Palm Resort in Trincomalee.

Day 4 - 8 : Time to enjoy the truly tropical beach. Nilaveli is facing the Pigeon Island Marine National Park and is perfect for snorkeling or scuba diving. Bright corals and colorful fish swarms can be seen directly through the crystal clear waters. If you after bigger fish, go whale watching. Blue whales and sperm whales can be seen regularly east of Trincomalee.
Always worth a visit is one of the many colourful Hindu temples, due to the predominantly Tamil population. Don't miss the views over Trincomalee's Inner Harbour, full with fishing boats. Another attraction are the Kanniya Hot Water Springs. The hot water is good for Arthritis and Rheumatic problems.
Overnight at the Palm Resort in Trincomalee.

Day 9 - 11 : On our way to to the fishing village of Kalkudah, we'll stop in small villages, 'hidden' beaches and/or one of the many temples.
Kalkudah is famous for its golden beach and the clear, shallow waters in which you can wade 50 m out to sea. It is a virgin beach and renowned throughout the Sri Lanka for its beauty.
If you are a scuba diver, then there are some excellent diving spots, including the wreck of the HMS Hermes, a WW2 British naval ship. You can also enjoy exploring the Maduru Oya National Park where you have a good chance of seeing elephants.
Overnight at the Nandawanam Guest House in Kalkudah.

Day 12 - 13 : Before we reach Arugam Bay, we visit the old port city of Batticaloa. The colonial fort, overlooking the lagoon is certainly worth a visit. Like the Galle Fort, you'll find old Dutch-era buildings with courtyards, temples and many churches, dating back to the colonial times.
Arugam Bay is located at the “end of the road” on the East Coast of Sri Lanka. If you’re after laid-back life with all the atmosphere of jungle and beach, this is the place for you. Arugam Bay is listed as one of the top ten surf points in the world. Situated on the southeast of Sri Lanka , Arugam receives the same Antarctic winter swells that hit Indonesia 's southern shores in the middle of the year. The best time of the year to surf is between May and November when the predominant wind is offshore for at least the first half of the day.
In the afternoon of the last day, we start our way back to Negombo on the West Coast.
Overnight at the Blue Wave Hotel in Arugam Bay.

Day 14 : After checking out of your hotel we drive you back to the airport or your next destination in Sri Lanka.
You also can continue with one of our other Sri Lanka Tours or Sri Lanka Holiday Packages. End of the Tour Package.
