Negombo's is an ideal starting point for trips into the hill country of Sri Lanka and only 30 km north of the commercial capital Colombo.
The beaches are ideal for swimming, kite surfing as well as wakeboarding and waterskiing.
Diving is possible but you will need a boat to cross the reef.
Portuguese Fort and Dutch Cemetery The Negombo fort was taken over by the Dutch when they arrived and used as a jail. The fort is still a jail today and the cemetery is near the front gates.

The Negombo waterski course has only a length of 500 m but the perfect water conditions are making it possible to barefoot waterski all day long.
