Helga's Folly - Kandy, Sri Lanka

	HELGA’S FOLLY, (converted into a small hotel in the late 50’s) sits on a hill above the bustle of the ancient Royal town of Kandy (10 min walk), overlooking the lake, palace & magnificent mountain scenery.
The Bauhaus inspired 30’s house was designed as a home by the present owner’s mother Esme de Silva, (wife of ex Ambassador to Paris Frederick de Silva).

Each room, is an explosion of flamboyant colors, rich fabrics & gaudy furnishings. Signs of the zodiac beam down from ceilings. Antique furniture together with furniture designed by Helga’s mother & Helga.

Watching her family play host to many celebrities, including, Vivian Leigh,Sir Laurence Olivier, Peter Finch, David Lean, William Holden, Sir Alec Guinness . Mahatma Ghandi, Nehru, Indira Ghandi, Admiral Leighton, Lord Mountbatten & many others, Helga transformed the house into her personal "folly" 10 years ago.

Recent celebrity guests include Paula Yates, Andrew Logan, Zandra Rhodes. Kelly Jones, of the STEREOPHONICS was inspired to write the single, ’Madam Helga’.
